A 6-year-old girl escaped an attempted kidnapping Tuesday in north Austin, Texas, according to an Austin Police Department affidavit released by NBC News affiliate KXAN-TV.
Police say around 7:00 p.m. on Nov. 23 they received a call to report an attempted kidnapping at a Dollar Tree store located in the 12000 block of Interstate 35.

The statement says a girl was with her mother and brother at the shopping establishment, but the three were briefly separated into different aisles.
The victim told police she was looking for candy when

She tried to walk away, but the man grabbed her by the neck and began to strangle her as he carried her to the back of the store, the legal document says.

The statement states that when the girl's brother saw this, he began to scream and alerted his mother and other people so the suspect ran away.
Police say they were able to catch the man after seeing him at a nearby bus stop.
He was arrested on charges of aggravated kidnapping.
Since Saturday night, he has been being held in the Travis County Jail, on a $ 250,000 bond.
