A 70-year-old hunter was killed on Sunday by a shot from another hunter during a wild boar beat in the Dordogne, we learned from the Bergerac prosecutor's office, which opened an investigation.

The victim was "
fatally injured
" by a shot from another participant in this beaten, aged 60, when the latter opened fire "
twice in the direction of a boar
", detailed to AFP the deputy prosecutor of Bergerac Charles Charollois. The facts took place on Sunday around 10 am in the town of Campsegret, about fifteen kilometers north of Bergerac.
An investigation opened for "
involuntary homicide on a hunting action
", was entrusted to the gendarmerie and to the French Biodiversity Office (OFB), added Charles Charollois. The author of the shot, in "
state of shock
" after the tragedy, will be heard in the coming days by investigators. The trail of the accident is at this stage privileged, still according to the prosecution.
Fatal hunting accidents are regularly used by opponents of hunting to demand its ban.
