Fifty young men and women participated in an initiative to rehabilitate the gardens at the entrance to Lattakia city, which was launched by the Voluntary Work and Environment Office in the branch of the Revolutionary Youth Union in Latakia under the slogan (With our awareness, we protect our environment) with the aim of improving the aesthetic appearance of the entrance to the city.
The initiative, which was implemented by the Association of Martyr Imad Al-Din Deeb Al-Shabibiah, in cooperation with the Directorate of Services and Maintenance, the Parks Department, included cleaning, pruning and rehabilitation of the gardens scattered along the entrance for two days.
In a statement to SANA's reporter, Hussein Hammoud, Secretary of the Youth League, pointed out the importance of taking care of gardens and preserving their beauty from time to time, as they constitute an outlet for citizens, with the aim of developing a sense of social responsibility among young people and urging them to volunteer to preserve their city and environment.
In turn, Farah Abdeen, head of the Voluntary Work and Environment Committee in the association, pointed out that cleaning the gardens is a primary priority, as it is the lung of the governorate, and today's initiative included trimming trees, collecting garbage, disposing of waste, checking the safety of seats and children's toys and painting them.
Volunteers Mohammed Khalaf and Jodi Benshi explained that their participation in the initiative serves as a message to enhance awareness of the need to spread the culture of volunteerism and preserve public properties and their cleanliness, especially gardens.
