The World Squash Championship was moved to Malaysia due to corona constraints, putting the Israeli delegation in an old problem

In recent years, we have become accustomed to a reality in which Israelis are no longer discriminated against in sports competitions.

The refusal of athletes from Muslim countries to compete with Israeli athletes receives decisive treatment from the associations, and even when the competitions are held in countries that are refusing to recognize Israel, they are forced to allow us to participate.

Contrary to this trend, here comes the World Squash Men's Championship (expected to open on December 7), reminding us all that the scourge of boycott of Israeli sports is still here.

The championship was planned to take place in New Zealand, but due to Corona constraints was moved to Malaysia, a country known for its anti-Israel and anti-Semitic attitudes dictated from above.

The new hosts have announced that the Israeli team will not be able to compete with it, and all the efforts of the Israeli Squash Association to change the decision have not yet borne fruit.

According to Aviv Bushinsky, chairman of the Squash Association of Israel, he does not intend to give up, and he continues to press the world association to intervene and prevent discrimination against Israelis on the basis of nationality and race.

Bushinsky explains that the organizers pull time through various exercises, to leave less time for the Israeli association to attack the refusal by legal means.

Despite this, after the World Squash Association refused to hold a hearing on the issue before its internal arbitration institution, the Israeli association filed through Adv. .

The last time Israeli athletes found themselves in a similar situation was two years ago, when the Malaysians asked not to host the Israeli team at the World Paralympic Swimming Championships.

The Paralympic Swimming Association then denied Malaysia the right to host the competition, and ruled that discriminating against Israelis of this kind is contrary to the Olympic spirit.

Although squash is not an Olympic sport, there is no reason to agree to any boycott of Israelis because they are Israelis.

Nir Cohen, a member of the team (along with Daniel Polshchuk, Ido Burstein, Roi Avraham and Nadav Tanen) and a player in the global professional squash round, expressed hope that the team could compete in the championship, noting that "sport is where we need to find an equal valley and create a common denominator between "Countries, to develop new ties and develop existing ones and let competition do its thing."
