An earthquake measuring 4.8 on the Richter scale hit the outskirts of Arinshahr city in South Khorasan Province, eastern Iran, at dawn today.
The Iranian news agency IRNA quoted the Seismological Center of the Geophysical Institute of Tehran University as saying that the epicenter of the earthquake was 39 km from the city of Arinshahr, 55 km from the city of Seh Qalaa and 58 km from the city of Qain.
In turn, the Director-General of Crisis Management in South Khorasan Province, Abul-Hassan Mergelili, said: We have not received any reports of damage caused by the earthquake, pointing out that 4 assessment teams have been sent to study the situation in the region.
