Four members of Congress turned to the chairman of the country's stock exchange authority and demanded that he reveal the extent of the damage to the food giant Unilever, which owns the Band & Jerrys brand that boycotts Israel

Israeli supporters of the US Legislature are escalating the struggle against Unilever following the Ben & Jerrys brand boycott of the Jewish state.

Four U.S. congressmen today (Sunday) wrote a letter to Gary Gensler, chairman of the U.S. Stock Exchange and Securities Authority, demanding transparency from the Unilever Food Corporation, which owns the Ben & Jerrys brand.

In their letter, lawmakers argued that "since Unilever's announcement of the boycott, the company's share has fallen by 13% - equivalent to a loss of $ 21 billion. Of all necessary information regarding the effects of the boycott. "

Members of Congress have asked the Stock Exchange Authority to oblige Unilever Global to fully and accurately disclose the potential negative consequences of the crisis the company is going through following the decision to declare a boycott.

In their letter, the four wrote: "Unilever is a company with a current market value of $ 135 billion, which endangers its shareholders. We ask that you give full and fair attention within all the laws, rules and regulations that apply to it."

Some 33 U.S. states have enacted laws against a business boycott of Israel and are now actively working against Unilever Global with economic sanctions and withholding of holdings in the company.

The food giant claims that most of the decline in its profits is due to inflation in some of the company's target countries as well as a steep rise in shipping costs and the global transportation crisis, which has hit the entire global food industry.

Last July, the global Unilever company announced that Ben & Jerry's Israeli franchisee Avi Singer should stop selling ice cream beyond the Green Line.

In response, Singer informed the company that he did not give in to its demands and that the company would continue to sell in all parts of Israel.
