3G at work and on the train, 2G-plus in the gym, theater and cinema - both unvaccinated and vaccinated people have to show a test for more and more everyday things.

The test centers are therefore overrun.

Bullying customers are unfortunately part of the everyday life of employees.

District

- Around a dozen people are waiting at zero degrees and sleet on Friday morning in front of the door of the test center on Römerstrasse in Gilching. "This is part of everyday life at the moment," says pharmacist Dr. Stefan Hartmann, who runs the test center together with his wife Iris Blaschke. Since the quick tests are free again and the state government tightened the corona rules, there has been a real run on the test centers in the district.

The approximately 60 employees in Gilching carry out 500 tests per day - in three to four cases with a positive result.

"It's crazy, the demand is increasing massively from day to day," says Iris Blaschke.

It was not until Thursday evening that she and her husband decided at a crisis meeting that an additional worker should be used per shift.

"It should keep things tidy and keep the clearances," says Blaschke.

Because: “People are becoming more and more insolent and aggressive.” Unvaccinated people in particular are not always friendly towards the staff.

Bitches and insolences

"They often complain when they have to queue for their test for 20 minutes, but only take the S-Bahn for ten minutes," says Hartmann. Blaschke's son, who works in the test center, has even had to hear that he hurts people with his work. "Thank goodness I'm not there when people start messing around," says Hartmann, who owns several pharmacies in the western district. “I would throw them out immediately.” Instead of responding to the insolence of the customers, the employees try to remain calm and explain to them that they are only implementing the provisions of the policy.

The test center, which is open seven days a week, is particularly well attended early in the morning and late in the evening. Not only those who have not been vaccinated can be tested on the Roman road for a long time. Even vaccinated people who want to go to the gym, cinema or swimming pool have recently had to submit a test. So did Maria Schauer. “My girlfriend and I have two theater tickets for tonight,” she says. “The 2G plus rule applies here.” The Gilchinger woman is already a familiar face in the test center. "I come here regularly when I visit my sister in the nursing home."

Due to the rush, the operators now want to extend the opening times.

There should no longer be a lunch break.

"If everything goes according to plan, we will be there for customers next Monday during the week from 7.30 a.m. to 8 p.m., Saturdays from 8.30 a.m. to 8 p.m. and Sundays from 12.30 p.m. to 8 p.m.", says Iris Blaschke.

100 chopsticks a day in someone else's noses

Franziska Kümpfbeck from Herrsching has been working in the test center in the mornings since May.

“I haven't had such a stressful day as today,” she says.

She leads 100 chopsticks into someone else's noses per shift.

“That’s why the people were nice today.” The majority of customers come to Römerstraße for a free quick test.

“But we also offer PoC-PCR tests for 65 euros.

The result comes within 30 minutes, ”says Hartmann.

Registration is still only required for the complex PCR test, but that could change soon.

"I am on the verge that tests will only be possible with prior online appointments," says Hartmann.

That would prevent the long queues.

"When we opened the test center in the spring, we tested 175 registered children and nobody had to wait longer than five minutes." The advantage of online registration is that citizens can enter their data at home.

In contrast to other test center operators, Hartmann has not yet had any problems with the procurement of quick tests. “We always buy them in packs of 10,000,” he says. Especially in the past few weeks, when the tests were still chargeable, very few were used. "To be honest, I didn't think the rush would be that big again," says Hartmann.

Julia Magenau, who runs the rapid test centers in Herrsching, Tutzing and Gauting together with her husband and the Rittinghausen couple, has a similar experience. “I didn't expect such high demand,” she says. Your employees carry out between 150 and 450 tests per station and day. "A few weeks ago around 30 people came to test." Due to the high demand, she and her colleagues opened another test center in Starnberg on December 1st (we reported). “That is simply necessary.” Demand has also increased significantly in the test center of the district in Gilching. More than 200 tests would be carried out there again per day. But that is no comparison to spring. "In May there were around 400 a day."

From next week, doctor Corinna Rittinghausen also wants to organize vaccination days in Seefeld.

“Two to three appointments are already planned.

As soon as we know more, interested parties can find out more on the website of the test centers. ”Not only Rittinghausen has vaccination plans, Stefan Hartmann would also like to set up a vaccination center in Gilching.

"As soon as pharmacists are allowed to vaccinate, we'll get started."

Speaking of vaccinations: At the to-go campaign in the Roncallihaus in Tutzing, the rush on Friday was apparently so great that not everyone who wanted to be vaccinated could be vaccinated.

The district office could not give details on Friday.
