The traffic light government under Olaf Scholz will have to take care of Corona from day one. A crisis management team is to play a central role here - the head of which has now apparently been established.

In view of the escalating corona situation, the Ampel-Coalition wants to entrust a logistics expert from the Bundeswehr with the management of the announced crisis team.

The decision should be announced in the coming days and thus before the new federal government takes office, reports the "Süddeutsche Zeitung".

In conversation is Major General Carsten Breuer.

The 56-year-old is the commander of the Bundeswehr Territorial Tasks Command, which is responsible for domestic operations by the armed forces.

The SPIEGEL was confirmed on Sunday evening from circles of the future traffic light government that a general of the Bundeswehr with experience in the logistics sector should take over the management of the crisis team.

In the coalition agreement, the SPD, the Greens and the FDP agreed that the future federal government would "immediately" set up a new crisis team "to better coordinate the nationwide fight against the corona pandemic."

Chancellor-designate Olaf Scholz (SPD) announced on Saturday a "new, precise way of dealing with the current challenges" via Twitter and referred to the crisis team to be founded.

“We'll do whatever it takes.

There is nothing that cannot be taken into account, ”said Scholz.

He made a similar statement on the sidelines of the Juso Federal Congress in Frankfurt am Main.
