Bad Tölz - As part of the city of Bad Tölz's media offensive for its supervised schools, the classrooms of the southern school were recently equipped with 39 digital boards.

Many should still remember: the daily dinner service.

Each student had to take turns when the teacher had filled the green wall in front of the classroom.

Usually there was an ancient and musty sponge to wipe away.

Those times are over: The modern version of the school blackboard has little in common with the one from the “Cretaceous Period”.

In the middle, an 86-inch screen offers teachers the option of choosing between a digital board and a monitor in class.

It is flanked on the outside by analog boards that can be written on with a pen in the usual way.

"This opens up numerous possibilities for child-friendly, modern and appealing lessons," reports town hall spokeswoman Birte Otterbach.

The two primary school teachers Anna-Lena Kaiser and Carolina Odemann recently demonstrated the possibilities in the Tölzer Südschule.

Otterbach was there too.

What particularly struck her: "It's easy on the eye," she says.

Completely different than when you sit at a PC or laptop, for example.

Digital boards help LSR students

Another big advantage of the digital boards is for schoolchildren who suffer from reading and writing difficulties (LRS).

As on the smartphone, the teacher can pull the screen larger.

The pedagogue can now project individual words on the monitor to fill the board, "so that they can better recognize the pupils," reports Otterbach.

For the young generation of teachers, who have grown up with tablets, social media and smartphones, the switch to a digital blackboard system is probably not a problem. But what about older semesters who are about to retire?

“They also value the new variety of methods as a clear plus,” explains Otterbach when asked.

The rector of the south school is also enthusiastic.

He noticed when using the new boards: "The lessons are much more entertaining."

Bad Tölz is equipping all three schools with the new board system

With its initiative, the city equips all three schools.

This means that the purchase of the new board system with 210,000 euros is the largest single measure of the “DigitalPakt” implementation.

Ingo Mehner: "That is a lot of money, but every cent is well invested," emphasizes the mayor.

“In the future, however, there will be more to come”, since the digital infrastructure also has to be looked after.

"It's a challenge that shouldn't be underestimated."
