With the new Corona ordinances coming into force, the driving schools in the Miesbach district have also rescheduled: the driving lesson is only possible with 2G proof.

Rottach-Egern

- Driving school operator Christian Stadler from Rottach-Egern has telephoned a lot in the past few days: It was necessary to cancel already fixed driving lessons, to turn the calendar inside out and to encourage understanding. Like so many other companies and institutions, the 52-year-old had to reorganize his operations when the new Corona regulations came into force: 2G now applies instead of 3G. Means: From now on, only vaccinated and recovered students can take lessons in his driving school in Benkwitz - regardless of whether in theory or practice. Stadler's colleagues in the Miesbach district are apparently moving with them. "We have agreed nationwide on 2G internally," says the Rottacher, who is also the district chairman of the regional association of Bavarian driving instructors.

Driving schools in the district have agreed on the 2G rule

The new Corona rules for driving schools are nowhere near as clear as Stadler would have liked.

Whether 2G is actually compulsory for their operation could not be determined with absolute certainty for the Rottacher from ministries, authorities and the association.

"There are so many exceptions, the formulations are difficult to understand for the layman," says Stadler.

In order to be on the safe side, the driving schools in the district organized in the association - around a dozen companies - ultimately agreed to apply the 2G rule with immediate effect.

The decision was not indisputable.

“We discussed a lot,” reports Stadler.

Curiosity: There are no restrictions on the driving tests

The Rottacher, who runs his driving school as a family business, is sorry for the development, especially for the young people.

Many are still very young.

Some who get their scooter driving license are just 14 years old.

"They are now being forced into a vaccination situation," says Stadler.

He also does not understand the fact that there are currently no restrictions on the examinations.

“Nothing is regulated at all,” complains Stadler.

In other words: the unvaccinated student is no longer allowed to take one driving lesson, but theoretically he can take the exam.

Distance and FFP2 mask were already common in driving schools

Stadler is convinced that driving schools have already done a lot for safety in the past.

"We've only been driving in pairs for months, wearing FFP2 masks all the time and keeping our distance during theory lessons," he says.

For him, this is "the most effective protection against infection".

Stadler doubts whether the tightening of 2G will make a decisive contribution to easing the situation.

“Nevertheless, of course we support it.” Above all, the district chairman adds, there is already the fear “that we will have to lock up across the board”.
