Czech President Milos Zeman today appointed Civic Democratic Party leader Petr Fiala as the new prime minister.
The appointment ceremony took place in the Lani Palace near Prague, in a hall where an insulator of plastic glass was installed between Zeman and Fiala, given that the president was infected with the Corona virus.
The appointment of Fiala came after an agreement between the leaders of four parties to form a coalition government, based on a comfortable majority in the House of Representatives, consisting of 108 deputies out of 200.
It is noteworthy that the new prime minister, born in 1964, held the position of Minister of Education, Youth and Sports in the government of Peter Nichas between 2012 and 2013.
