Around 8 am, "
a couple of parents presented themselves to the Maintenon fire station, near Chartres, with their two-year-old boy in cardio-respiratory arrest
" and who died shortly after, told AFP Rémi Coutin, public prosecutor of Chartres. "
In view of the first elements, it was decided to place the father in police custody for the count of intentional homicide by ascendant on a minor of fifteen years
", added the prosecutor. The mother was heard as a witness.
However, the prosecution does not immediately exclude that it is a manslaughter, given the possibility that the baby was "
hit and run over by a vehicle possibly belonging to his parents
", according to the same source.
The father was taken into custody with a high blood alcohol level, the prosecutor said.
The family is part of the Traveler community.
They had been in this camp for about two and a half months.
An autopsy must take place Monday morning at the forensic institute in Garches (Hauts-de-Seine).
For the investigation, the Chartres prosecutor's office contacted the Lucé Research Brigade (BR) and the Maintenon brigade community.
