The Directorate of Agriculture in Lattakia spent 5.255 billion Syrian pounds in compensation for the second batch on farmers affected by the fires that occurred on the 9th and 10th of October last year.
The Director of Agriculture, Engineer Basem Doba, said in a statement to SANA reporter that the number of beneficiaries who have received their compensation so far has reached 16,465 farmers distributed over 111 villages in different regions of the governorate.
He pointed out that the Directorate is completing the disbursement of compensation for the second batch, amounting to about 6,405 billion Syrian pounds, at the end of this week.
Doba explained that the value of the compensation for the second batch is equivalent to 25 percent of the total compensation, as 50 percent of it was disbursed last year, and the rest of the compensation will be disbursed next year.
