The French authorities announced that they had detected an outbreak of bird flu in a poultry farm in the north of the country, the first since the outbreak of the epidemic last winter.
French media quoted the French Ministry of Agriculture as saying in a statement: “France has detected an outbreak of a highly infectious strain in a poultry farm located in the town of Warham in the North Province,” pledging to take sanitary measures for slaughtering chickens, disinfecting the focus, and establishing a protection zone around the focus and a 10-kilometre control area.
Since the end of the summer, France has announced four cases of bird flu in wildlife and three cases in pens in France.
