In the next few years there will be a lot of major projects going on in Freising. The west bypass will be finished first. A Christmas present.

In the next few years there will be a lot of major projects going on in Freising.

The west bypass will be finished first.

A Christmas present.

Freising

- "With a heavy heart" the city and the mayor had to cancel the citizens' collection in the Luitpoldhalle, as Tobias Eschenbacher assured. And then on November 11th the online broadcast via YouTube didn't work either (we reported). That is why the one-hour report by the town hall chief was recorded and now posted on the city's website. It is an insight into years full of large and important projects. Most of the questions in the run-up to the citizens' meeting were on the subject of the "Neustifter Feld" development plan, reported the mayor. Eschenbacher announced that there will be special information for the public in the coming spring. And something else was important: If you have any questions after the recorded citizens' meeting, you can email them to buergerversammlung@freising.de.The OB promised the fastest possible answers.

School projects and housing

And then it started with an overview of the current projects: There is the daycare center under construction on Moosstrasse, the Steinpark schools, which will be completed in autumn 2022, the expansion of the St. Lantbert elementary school in Lerchenfeld and the plans for one Another elementary school on the property on Erdinger Strasse, where the containers are currently located. In addition: the renovation and new construction of the Vöttinger school or the renovation of the St. Korbinian primary school. It continued with urban residential construction on Katharina-Mair-Strasse, Johann-Braun-Strasse and Oberen Pfalzgrafstrasse, as well as with cooperative construction in Steinpark. The inner city redevelopment,At which the opening of the Moosach should be completed at the end of 2022 and the sections Marienplatz and western Untere Hauptstraße should finally be completed in 2025/2026, Eschenbacher's list followed, as well as the renovation of the Asam building, which has been ongoing since 2017 and should be completed in 2023.

Citizens can see the tunnel

And then the road construction and civil engineering: work on the west bypass will come to an end around Christmas, and once the 139 million euro project has been approved, it will be opened to traffic in mid-January.

Before that, announced Eschenbacher, the population will probably be given the opportunity to look at the entire structure - above all, of course, the tunnel.

(By the way: Everything from the region is now also available in our regular Freising newsletter.)

The renewal and widening of the bridge caps on the elevated route, which will start in 2022, will not take quite as long as the western bypass.

And then the way to the "Radentscheid" was not far: it was still open, according to the town hall chief, whether there would be a referendum in February, because the discussions between the initiators of the referendum and the city administration were still ongoing.

It depends on an agreement whether the citizens of Freising will be called to the ballot box in February.

Everyone agrees that “the traffic turnaround must be achieved”.

Event arena as an opportunity for Freising

The mayor answered questions about the position of the city on the planned event arena at the airport as follows: Wait and see whether the investor can even get access to the area - which, as reported, has now happened.

Only then will the formal procedure begin with the city of Freising as the approval authority, and only then will there be resolutions in the city council.

Conclusion: "We as a city see it as an opportunity", but it still contains some difficult issues that "have to be dealt with".
