The territorial conflict between China and Taiwan has increased by one level of escalation: As the Ministry of Defense announced in Taipei on Sunday, 27 aircraft of the Chinese Air Force have penetrated the identification zone for the air defense (ADIZ) of the island state, including five nuclear-capable bombers of the type H- 6th

The ADIZ is not identical to the airspace of a state.

It is used by the respective country to identify flight movements at an early stage.

When aircraft cross an ADIZ, the pilots must therefore register with the air traffic control and regularly pass on their coordinates.

There are repeated violations of Taiwan's territorial integrity by China.

The current action is also likely to be a deliberate provocation: the Chinese government sees democratic Taiwan, which split off from the mainland in 1949, as a breakaway province rather than an independent state.

In addition, the People's Republic rejects any form of formal relations between other countries and the island republic.
