The corona incidence in the district fell on Friday at 637, the lowest value since the beginning of November.

However, the medical staff is at their limit.

This prompted the district manager of the Bavarian Red Cross (BRK), Robert Kießling, to launch a free campaign.

Miesbach - It should help to raise the vaccination quota a little bit. “If we don't want a hard lockdown, we can simply get out of the current situation by vaccinating,” warns Kießling. His concept: free clothes as a thank you for vaccinated people or as an incentive to get vaccinated. "Everyone who has been vaccinated - regardless of whether they have been vaccinated for an hour or have already been boosted - can take a part with them for free in the BRK clothing market in Miesbach," promises the district manager.

The BRK usually has nothing to give away. So it is also a cry for help. “We probably won't move the world with it. But if everyone does what they can to get more people vaccinated, something is already gained, ”explains Kießling. He sees the need for this not least with regard to his employees: "The performance limit has also been reached in our district and with our BRK helpers," says a press release from the BRK district association. "The rescue service is extremely burdened with time-consuming hygiene measures and relocation trips."

Michaela Götschl, who heads the rescue service at the BRK, goes into detail on request. On the one hand, there is the standard disinfection concept. "Everything that the patient has come into contact with is disinfected after the journey," she reports. The procedure is much more complex if a Covid or Covid suspected patient has been transported. "With changing protective clothing, it sometimes takes over half an hour," says Götschl. Roughly estimated, at least 20 percent of all journeys are currently transferring corona patients or transporting infections to the hospital. "Then there are those who only later find out that they were admitted to the clinic because of Covid," reports Götschl.According to Kießling, the paramedics and paramedics cannot even take a short break in one shift. On top of that, there is overtime.

But the situation is not only explosive in the ambulance.

The BRK's outpatient care service has already reached its limits.

“People are released from hospitals much earlier and then need help,” says Kießling.

But urgent requests for admission should have already been rejected for reasons of capacity.

Such a situation is particularly tragic for relatives.

“It is bad when someone is dependent on outpatient care for their partner, parents or grandparents because they work themselves and this cannot be provided,” he explains the dilemma.

In addition, other BRK service areas are also severely restricted or even discontinued, such as the current dementia care.

According to the managing director, there are also “a few unvaccinated people” in the ranks of the district association itself.

That doesn't make the situation any easier.

More and more employees are now approaching Kießling to complain about their desperation.

“They say that soon they will simply no longer be able to”, reports the district manager.

"Fortunately, no one has completely thrown in the towel yet."
