The Dutch health authorities announced that they had recorded at least 13 cases of the new Corona virus, Omicron, for passengers who were subjected to quarantine, after they were confirmed to be infected with the Corona virus upon arrival from South Africa.
And the National Institute of Public Health in the Netherlands said in a statement today, carried by Agence France-Presse, that “the mutant Omicron was identified in 13 of the tests that had a positive result in terms of infection with corona,” noting that the examinations for travelers had not been completed and the new mutant may be discovered in more samples.
The Dutch authorities began the process of confirming the presence of the mutant Omicron, after it was confirmed that 61 out of 600 passengers on two flights from South Africa to Amsterdam were infected with Corona last Friday.
