The Directorate of Theaters and Music in the Ministry of Culture presents 30 different performances, including plays for adults and children, concerts, lyrical and dance performances, and folklore performances in various governorates within the celebration of the Syrian Culture Days.
Imad Jalloul, director of the Theater and Music Directorate, said in a statement to SANA, “The directorate seeks, during the celebration, to present a variety of performances to theater lovers of all ages, for adults and children, in addition to a number of diverse musical and lyrical evenings with attendance of dance and folk arts performances.”
The celebration of the Syrian Culture Days, according to Jalul, constitutes an important cultural carnival situation that the public awaits annually, which reflects the Syrians’ love for art and culture and their ability to transcend the years of war and its negative effects by following up on all the various cultural events offered by the Ministry of Culture, including theater, music and folk arts.
Regarding the theatrical text competition in its first session, the results of which were announced by the directorate within the celebration activities, Jalloul explained that twenty-seven theatrical scripts participated in the competition, winning four texts for adults and three texts for children. Financial prizes for the authors of the winning texts.
Jalloul hoped that the scope of participation in the competition would expand in the coming sessions to include young writers from Arab countries in order to raise the general level of the competition.
