The President of the United Arab Emirates, Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan, issued an order to release 870 prisoners on the occasion of the fiftieth anniversary of the country's union.
The Emirates News Agency (WAM) stated that Sheikh Khalifa ordered the release of 870 inmates from the correctional and penal facilities who were sentenced in various cases, and ensured the payment of the financial fines incurred by them in implementation of those provisions, on the occasion of the 50th Union Day of the State.
The agency pointed out that this step falls within the framework of the country's humanitarian initiatives, which are based on the values of forgiveness and tolerance.
