Various activities in Tartous Central Prison conclude the days of culture in the governorate

Tartous, SANA- The activities of the Syrian Culture Days were concluded today by holding various artistic cultural activities in Tartous Prison.

Today, the activities of the Syrian Culture Days were concluded with the establishment of various cultural and artistic activities in Tartous Central Prison.

The events that were held to celebrate the anniversary of the establishment of the Ministry of Culture under the title (Culture… Authenticity and Renewal) included on its last day a theatrical performance entitled (Justice), written and represented by prison inmates and directed by Ghaith Hassan.

The show highlights the need to take care of children and adolescents and pay attention to them so that they do not make mistakes that could lead to imprisonment.

The show also included an artistic musical performance by Amrit band led by Mahdi Ibrahim, an exhibition of handicrafts produced by prison inmates, and another for a book that contained the publications of the Ministry of Culture, in addition to honoring a group of inmates registered in the adult education program.

Colonel Ayser Abu al-Fakhr, head of the Tartous Central Prison branch, confirmed in his statement to reporters the support of the Ministry of Interior and the Prison Administration for such events and the importance of culture in reforming the individual, indicating that this event is held in coordination between the Ministries of Culture and the Interior in order to prove to the world that prisons have social welfare institutions whose goal is to build a good, effective human being. society when he leaves this place.

In a similar statement, the delegate of the Ministry of Culture, Hana Koueider, drew attention to the ministry's keenness to keep pace with and promote these targeted activities, especially in prisons, as they carry a humanitarian and social message aimed at integrating inmates into society.

In turn, Kamal Badran, Director of Culture, indicated in his statement to reporters that a cultural center has been set up inside the prison since 2019 to devote integrated cultural work and permanently set up various cultural activities to hone the inmates' talents, pointing out that the library has been supplied inside with about 1,500 new books.

A number of prison inmates considered that these activities contribute to the development of their skills and serve as an opportunity to return to the right path by investing their time in it in various works, including sewing, handicrafts and waste recycling to be the beginning of a better life for them to be active members of society after they leave this place.
