The head of the Technology and Logistics Division, Major General Michel Janko, today (Monday) signed the letter of dismissal in the case of Lt. Gen. Dan Sharoni, who was arrested on suspicion of committing sexual offenses against female soldiers who served under him.
Accordingly, Roni will be removed from his position as commander of the driving school at Bahad 6.
Simultaneously with the removal of the officer, criminal proceedings are underway against him.
Lt. Col. Dan Sharoni was arrested on November 9, 2021, on suspicion of committing sexual offenses and invasion of privacy. A hearing will be held today on the military prosecution's request to extend the officer's detention for interrogation.
According to the suspicion, for several years at the bases where he served, including POW 36, the officer secretly documented female soldiers and maids using cameras hidden in "innocent" objects such as a cell phone charger, etc. According to the suspicion, he also acted similarly towards several civilians. He is also suspected of fraudulently transferring intimate photos of female soldiers who served under his command to his mobile phone.
