Police this morning (Monday) arrested a senior Tel Aviv municipality official on suspicion of involvement in sexual offenses, including when he was a minor.

He will be brought today for a hearing on the extension of his detention in the Magistrate's Court in Rishon Lezion.

According to the suspicion, the offenses attributed to the man allegedly occurred even when the victim of the offense, who is also a resident of the city, ceased to be a minor.

The man, represented by Adv. Avi Chimi and Adv. Sharon Nahari, was arrested at his home and taken for questioning at the offices of the Central Police Unit, and computers in his office were confiscated.

Earlier this month, police opened an investigation against Itai Arad, a former Tel Aviv mayor and a well-known figure in the gay community, after a complaint was filed against him for allegedly committing sexual offenses against boys.

Following the testimonies, Pink Arad resigned from his position in the municipality and the Meretz party.

The investigation was opened in the Yarkon area and a restraining order was imposed on her.
