Application not out of "joke and madness"

- After the clear vote in the building committee (we reported), the approval of the market council for the SPD application for the creation of a 30 km / h zone was not surprising. Of course, nothing has been decided yet. The town hall administration is now called upon to examine the traffic law framework - among other things, the building authority has to clarify whether Bachstrasse can be classified as a “residential street” at all with its traffic load. Expectations are high: Tempo 30 is “political will”, stated Walter Wurzinger (Free Voters) in the direction of the municipal building authority: “It should be clear that one is looking for solutions and not for reasons that it does not work.” In the council debate Manuela Vanni (Peißenberger list) also spoke up. The former mayor just wanted to "clarify something"because "an article" appeared in the press and it "came across as misleading" that Ebertstrasse was involved in the planning, but that would not be true. Vanni reported that citizens had told her over the phone that “there would be no right-to-left in Ebertstrasse”. This has already led to many accidents in the past.

Regarding Vanni's “clarification”, the following should be mentioned: The local newspaper reported in two articles on the SPD's application for the creation of a Tempo 30 zone. The first article dealt solely with the SPD original application, in which Ebertstrasse was expressly mentioned. Vanni, who says she does not read a local newspaper, even made the proposal to the building committee on Ebertstrasse, as it used to be there, to introduce a "right-before-left" right of way.

However, the town hall administration expressed concerns about Tempo-30 and a change in the right of way, because Ebertstraße serves as an important route for emergency services to the fire station and the BRK station. This is exactly what the local newspaper reported explicitly in a second article after the building committee meeting. Formally, Ebertstrasse should still be part of the exams. Back to the topic: Only Katrin Neumayr voted against the SPD motion. The side streets in the affected district, according to the AfD councilor, are far too short to be able to drive there quickly. A speed limit is therefore nonsensical and a "chicane for the motorist". And anyway: There was very little traffic on Ebertstrasse: "I often ride my bike there, but a car rarely comes towards me," says Neumayr.Peter Blome (SPD) contradicted this: his parliamentary group had not made the request “out of joke and frolic”, but residents had expressly complained. "We want to do something for the citizens and not against them," emphasized Blome. Jürgen Forstner (Free Voters) made a similar statement. It is not a chicane if you want to make the place more livable. In the higher-level political committees, the general trend is towards an inner-city speed limit of 30 km / h. “At some point we won't be able to avoid it.” Forstner criticized the fact that there is still no coherent overall traffic concept for Peißenberg. Efforts are being made to designate residential areas and redensification, "but we never talk about how we want to handle everything in terms of traffic".You finally have to take a close look at the entire place: "I am sure that we will find a lot of places where we have to take action," said Forstner local council.
