District expands bus offer with tangential line

With the timetable change on Sunday, December 12th, the district will present the largest new public transport concept to date.

There is an expansion of the offer of 40 percent in Germering and 63 percent in Eichenau, Olching and Puchheim.

Fürstenfeldbruck - As an example of the new offer, the new tangential routing line 860 through the eastern district was presented in advance in Olching. In addition to Vice District Administrator Michael Schanderl, representatives of the municipalities of the MVV and MVG as well as the company Busverkehr Südbayern, which is responsible for the line, were present. The date served as a replacement for the traditional celebrations of all those involved with the citizens, which were canceled due to the pandemic.

The MVV Tangential Bus 860 runs from Freiham via Germering, Puchheim-Ort, Eichenau and Olching to Graßlfing and back.

Operating time and frequency are Monday to Saturday every 20 minutes from around 5.15 a.m. to 10.45 p.m., Sunday and public holidays every hour from 7 a.m. to 5.45 p.m.

From Olching to Germering, all the stops are in just one tariff zone and also enable inexpensive trips to neighboring communities.

Supraregional cooperation

"Tangential bus connections are particularly important to us," says District Administrator Thomas Karmasin about the change in the timetable.

Not just because they're quick and direct.

But above all because medium distances of up to 75 kilometers have a particularly high climate protection effect.

But that consequently also requires supra-local connections and inter-municipal cooperation ”.

The new 860 line is an offer from the district and is financed by it in its area. “Line 860 marks the first time a tangential MVV regional bus line starts, which connects the eastern district with Munich via the three S-Bahn lines S 3, S 4 and S 8. Together with the MVG line 157, which has been extended to Germering, passengers from the eastern district have direct and attractive travel options to Freiham, ”explains Detlev Metzner, head of the regional bus division at MVV. According to him, the almost complete re-planning of bus traffic in the eastern district brings considerable improvements for passengers. Metzner: "The mobility turnaround can only succeed with such committed expansion of local public transport."
