The Turkish regime authorities arrested 17 demonstrators in the capital, Ankara, yesterday evening, during their suppression of protests against the high prices and the deteriorating living situation in the country.

The Turkish newspaper, Today Zaman, reported that the demonstrators tried to gather in front of the Çanakkale municipality in Ankara, but the police forces prevented them from reaching the assembly point using violence and arrested 17 people from the small groups that managed to infiltrate the municipality building, including Turkish journalist Oznur Dayar, and his camera was confiscated.

Yesterday's protests come as an extension of the demonstrations that took place last Tuesday in Ankara, Istanbul and other cities, which demanded the resignation of the government in protest against the violent decline in the value of the lira, where the dollar recorded 13.45 lira on that day, and the regime forces arrested 70 people in Istanbul alone, including 24 women, against the backdrop of the protests.

On the other hand, parliamentarian Gokan Zeybek of the opposition Republican People's Party warned that Turkey will face difficulties in providing flour, red meat and dairy products in the coming period, given that the expenditures of agricultural production, livestock and small and medium enterprises depend on the foreign currency, which is witnessing a continuous rise against the Turkish lira every day. .

The Turkish economy suffers from a continuous deterioration, with investors reluctance to work in Turkey, amid the intervention of the President of the Turkish regime, Recep Tayyip Erdogan, in economic policies, tightening his grip on the various institutions of the country and forcing the Central Bank to raise interest rates more than once, which led to the deterioration of the Turkish currency to record levels.
