The World Squash Championship was canceled tonight (Monday) due to the refusal of the Malaysian hosts to allow Israelis to participate in the competition.
The World Squash Championships, which was scheduled to open on December 7, reminded us all that the scourge of boycott of Israeli sports is still here.
The championship was planned to take place in New Zealand, but due to Corona constraints was moved to Malaysia, a country known for its anti-Israel and anti-Semitic attitudes dictated from above.
The new hosts have announced that the Israeli team will not be able to compete with it, and all the efforts of the Israeli Squash Association to change the decision have not yet borne fruit.
So after the World Squash Association refused to hold a hearing on the issue before its internal arbitration institution, the Israeli association filed through Adv.
It should be noted that the last time Israeli athletes found themselves in a similar situation was two years ago, when the Malaysians asked not to host the Israeli team at the World Paralympic Swimming Championships.
As in the present case, the Paralympic Swimming Association then denied Malaysia the right to host the competition, and ruled that discrimination against Israelis of this kind is contrary to the Olympic spirit.
Although squash is not an Olympic sport, there is no reason to agree to any boycott of Israelis because they are Israelis.
