It was only when the brother of a friend Justus Mühlnickel reported about the impending establishment of the committee that he began to toy with the idea of becoming a member of the youth council: “I thought it might be cool.
So I'll take part. "
And then it happened.
Nomination meeting in July, then came the election - and Justus Mühlnickel was a member of the youth council.
At the first meeting with Mayor Rainer Spicker and youth officer Benedikt Wex, the question of how to fill the positions was discussed.
Above all about the chairman, called the youth council spokesman in this body.
The office then went to the youngest in the group.
Justus Mühlnickel reports: "I was not pushed, but I thought to myself, if nobody wants to, then I'll just get in touch."
And so the ninth grader, who is attending grammar school in Mering, accepted the post.
Nine adolescents sit on the committee
His eight colleagues in the youth council are satisfied with their spokesman.
“Everyone thought it was good,” says Justus Mühlnickel, who has four older siblings.
By the way, and his parents too, approve of the junior's commitment.
The 14-year-old's circle of friends also went down well: “Nobody thinks it's funny.
But nobody thought in advance that I would be chairman. "
Interested in politics
Incidentally, he would not call himself politically enthusiastic.
“But as politically interested”.
Although politics is not a topic of conversation in the circle of friends.
In the youth election in Althegnenberg, which was held shortly before the federal election, Justus Mühlnickel was there as an election worker.
He says that back then it was exciting to see how an election works and how young people think.
The young people have not yet determined topics that they want to work on.
The plan is for the committee to meet once a month.
A maximum of twelve meetings per year is permitted.
Satisfied with the status quo
It is important to Justus Mühlnickel that Althegnenberg is youth-friendly.
He is satisfied with the status quo: this has been achieved in many areas, while something can be improved in others.
He would personally like to have a floodlight system for the tennis courts, since tennis is one of his sporting hobbies in addition to playing football.
In the rest of his free time he meets up with friends and plays the piano.
And now Justus Mühlnickel still needs time for the youth council.
