INFO LE FIGARO - The American giant began delisting at the end of the morning, in accordance with Bercy's requests.

A few weeks before Christmas, the Directorate General for Competition, Consumer Affairs and Fraud Control (DGCCRF) has decided to crack down on Wish, the low-cost e-commerce platform.

Bercy ordered, Wednesday, November 24, the delisting of Wish.com from search engines and application stores.

The last to put the injunction in place was web giant Google.

He explains to

Le Figaro

having removed the application from the Google Play Store in the morning.

The site is also being phased out of the search engine, a process that can take from several hours to a day.

This is a major setback for the e-commerce site, Google search is now used for around 90% of queries in France.

The other players concerned, such as Apple and Microsoft, have already removed Wish from their lists as we have seen.

A good connoisseur of the file indicates that flexibility was left to search engines which had until "the

beginning of the week

" to act.

Bruno Le Maire had all the same had to remind this Monday morning of this deadline: "

I give them a few more days, the benefit of the doubt, but no more and then it's very simple, I will bring the case to justice and they will be condemned,

”said the minister on France 2.

Appeal of the decision

With its de-listing request, the DGCCRF hit hard. This is the first time in Europe that such a measure has been taken. This sanction is the direct result of several investigations carried out by the administration. Investigations carried out this summer revealed that a large part of the products marketed by the marketplace are not compliant, or even dangerous.

If Wish does not agree to comply with Bercy's injunctions, an even greater threat looms: the ban of the site on French territory.

These two powers were entrusted to the DGCCRF in November 2020 to better fight against online fraud.

A measure that seems disproportionate in the eyes of Wish who announced to appeal this decision.

A legal procedure which is not suspensive, the actors of the web are therefore summoned to apply the sanction as long as justice will conduct its investigation.
