An earthquake measuring 6.5 on the Richter scale hit the southeast of the Japanese island of Honshu today, but no casualties were reported.
Reuters quoted the German GFZ Research Institute for Geosciences as saying:
The earthquake struck at a depth of ten kilometers and no tsunami warnings were issued.
Yesterday, an earthquake measuring 5.7 on the Richter scale hit the Japanese islands of Izu, but no injuries were reported.
Japan is classified among the countries prone to earthquakes and frequent earthquakes because it is located on the first seismic line and in the Pacific Ring of Fire region.
