The farmers of Al-Hasakah Governorate began marketing their production from the areas planted with winter vegetables in the local markets, as the marketed quantity reached 432 tons to date.

The head of the Plant Production Department in the Directorate of Agriculture, Eng. Jalal Bilal, said in a statement to SANA reporter that the governorate’s farmers grow various varieties of winter vegetables, the marketing of which will contribute to securing the people’s need and stabilizing prices, explaining that marketing operations are still in their infancy, and it is expected that production and marketing quantities will increase during the coming period.

For his part, Director of Internal Trade and Consumer Protection, Ignatius Kasbo, confirmed that the governorate’s farmers’ production of local winter vegetables covers part of the people’s needs of some types of vegetables and contributes to the stability of their prices, indicating that there are some types that are imported from other governorates, such as tomatoes, zucchini and cucumbers, which entail some financial burdens. resulting from the transportation of materials.

It is noteworthy that the total area planted with winter vegetables for the current season is 4,020 hectares distributed over the various agricultural settlement areas.
