2021-11-29T16:36:28.609Z

A heavy goods vehicle carrying gas cylinders lay down on the motorway at km 59, in the direction Paris-Lille. The axis was first closed

It is better to avoid taking the A1 this Monday afternoon, whether you want to go to Lille or that you are heading for Paris.

The motorway was first cut in both directions of traffic at Pontpoint, after a truck carrying gas cylinders lay down on the road after hitting the central reservation in the direction Paris-Lille .

A lane finally reopened in the Lille-Paris direction a little before 5 p.m.

This is the third accident of the day in the same sector since this morning, a heavy vehicle also landed on the A1 in the same direction of traffic.

In the early afternoon, a second accident involved two cars and a heavy goods vehicle.

The third accident involving four trucks and a car is the one involving the heavy goods vehicle carrying gas cylinders.

La Sanef recommends taking another route

It is therefore due to the nature of the loading of this truck that all traffic was initially interrupted. Several gas cylinders fell on the road and for the safety of all users, traffic was stopped in both directions at 4.30 p.m. Traffic jams of several kilometers have formed on both sides of the motorway, which motorists must leave at exit 10, Arsy-Compiègne Ouest in the direction Lille-Paris, at exit 9 Pont-Sainte-Maxence, in the Paris-Lille direction.

However, Sanef advises to avoid the area as far as possible, and to leave the motorway at Survilliers or Senlis heading north, to avoid the 4 km traffic jam before reaching exit 9. And opt for the A29 then the A16 in the other direction.

The highway will remain closed until all hazardous materials have been removed.
