The Hong Kong government issued a statement late at night on Monday (29th), announcing that non-Hong Kong residents coming from Angola, Ethiopia, Nigeria and Zambia from Angola, Ethiopia, Nigeria and Zambia from midnight on Tuesday (30th) will not be allowed to enter Hong Kong and impose the strictest quarantine requirements on those arriving in Hong Kong. .

According to the government statement, given that Nigeria has imported Omicron mutant virus strains into Hong Kong and in response to the latest developments in the region, Nigeria, Angola, Ethiopia and Zambia will be listed as Group A designated areas from midnight on Tuesday (30th). The most stringent quarantine and testing arrangements are implemented for those arriving in Hong Kong.

Hong Kong residents arriving in Hong Kong from these four areas must first go to the Penny's Bay Quarantine Center for a 7-day compulsory quarantine, during which they must be tested for the virus every day, and the health of the person must be monitored by medical staff.

The person concerned can only go to the designated quarantine hotel booked to complete the remaining 14 days of compulsory quarantine after 7 days. Frequent testing is still required during this period, and must go to the community testing center for compulsory testing on the 26th day of arrival in Hong Kong.

This quarantine and testing arrangement is currently applicable to people arriving in Hong Kong from Botswana, Swaziland, Lesotho, Malawi, Mozambique, Namibia, South Africa and Zimbabwe.

The government also pointed out that, in order to prevent problems, the areas where Omicron imported cases were found are designated as Group A designated areas, including Australia, Austria, Belgium, Canada, Czech Republic, Denmark, Germany, Israel, and Italy. It will take effect at 0:00 in the morning.

Non-Hong Kong residents who have stayed there within 21 days after the above nine areas are included in the designated areas in Group A will not be allowed to enter.

Hong Kong residents must complete the vaccination and hold an approved vaccination record before they can board the flight to Hong Kong, and undergo a 21-day compulsory quarantine at the designated quarantine hotel after arriving in Hong Kong, during which they undergo 6 tests, and they must arrive on the 26th day of arrival in Hong Kong. The community testing center accepts mandatory testing.
