The Food and Health Bureau announced that, given that Nigeria has imported Omicron mutant virus strains into Hong Kong, and in response to the latest developments in the region, Nigeria, Angola, Ethiopia and Zambia will be listed as Group A designated areas from midnight on Tuesday (30th). The strictest quarantine and testing arrangements will be implemented for those arriving in Hong Kong.
Hong Kong residents arriving in Hong Kong from these four areas must first go to the Penny's Bay Quarantine Center for a 7-day compulsory quarantine, during which they must be tested for the virus every day, and the health of the person must be monitored by medical staff.
The person concerned can only go to the designated quarantine hotel booked to complete the remaining 14 days of compulsory quarantine after 7 days. Frequent testing is still required during this period, and must go to the community testing center for compulsory testing on the 26th day of arrival in Hong Kong.
This quarantine and testing arrangement is now applicable to people arriving in Hong Kong from Botswana, Swaziland, Lesotho, Malawi, Mozambique, Namibia, South Africa and Zimbabwe, together with the four new countries, bringing the total to 12.
