Opinion | There is no independent Palestinian economy, there is hope for listening Israel today

2021-11-29T06:48:03.104Z

The young Palestinian generation is completely different from the previous generation. • Its ambitions are not only to go beyond the borders of the territories - but to go beyond its borders and areas of employment.

About a year ago, at a time when the corona virus was a matter of life and death, I was involved in an interesting conversation that I did not think would come the moment I would write about it.

Two members, who work in the field of high technology, talked about the great shortage of high-tech workers in Israel and the ways to recruit new workers.

One said that cooperation with India should be increased, but the other suggested and even insisted that two populations, Arabs in Israel and young people from the Palestinian Authority, be combined, and even stated, "This is in the national interest."

Less than a year has passed since the conversation, and the government, although its dominant elements come from a hawkish right-wing ideology, has approved a plan to employ several thousand young Palestinians in Israeli high-tech, inspiring many young people in the Arab world, not just Palestinians.

It can be stated that this is the most important program, after the security coordination between Israel and the Palestinian Authority, for several reasons: so far the Palestinians have worked mainly in manual labor, infrastructure building and casual work, and the Palestinian Academy has absorbed mainly Arab-Israeli citizens.

The younger Palestinian generation is completely different from the previous generation.

It sees itself as part of globalization and part of the global economy trend.

His ambitions are not only to go beyond the borders of the territories, but to go beyond the borders and areas of his employment.

In the meantime, there is no independent Palestinian economy, and it is doubtful that it will be in the next two decades, given the current geopolitical reality.

The integration of young Palestinians in Israeli high-tech can advance the economy, coexistence, not to mention promoting a basis for dialogue between the two peoples.

There is no doubt that this program can also contribute to improving the image of the State of Israel and all Israeli high-tech companies, which are the dominant engine of growth in the country, and the integration of Palestinian workers can certainly contribute its share in several aspects - social, political and even security.

Palestinian high-tech workers will still become entrepreneurs in Israel and will inspire both Israelis and Palestinians, and the government that approved the deal did well.
