According to the Robert Koch Institute, the seven-day incidence is 450, the curve with new infections is increasing inexorably - and Germany has now recorded more than 100,000 corona deaths.

The federal and state governments want to meet on Tuesday to talk about the corona situation, then the crisis team initiated by the SPD, Greens and FDP will also be presented.

The actual federal-state round is still pending at the end of next week - here there are increasing calls to bring this meeting forward.

Furthermore, there are no nationwide, rapid measures in the fight against the pandemic.

And this despite the fact that relevant experts consider this to be absolutely necessary.

Robert Schlögl, Vice President of the National Academy of Sciences Leopoldina, for example, who considers an end to the “cacophony” of the federal states to be “extremely important”.

In view of the dramatic corona infection events, the Leopoldina had recommended, among other things, immediate comprehensive contact restrictions.

In fact, Saarland is now planning such a step for unvaccinated people, and there are similar models in Saxony and Bavaria.

What applies in the 16 federal states?

The overview.

Baden-Wuerttemberg

Leisure, cultural and sporting events should be banned or at least significantly restricted.

The contacts would now have to be radically reduced, announced Prime Minister Winfried Kretschmann (Greens).

Unfortunately, this also applies to those who have been vaccinated because the vaccination protection wears off after four to six months.

The state cabinet will discuss details of the restriction on Tuesday.

"We will also massively restrict or even prohibit major sporting events," said Kretschmann.

A 2G Plus rule currently still applies to all events in culture, leisure and sport.

This means that so far only those who have been vaccinated and recovered have access to all events who can also show a negative test.

In addition, in urban and rural districts with a seven-day incidence of more than 500 exit restrictions for non-vaccinated and non-convalescents apply from 9 p.m. to 5 a.m.

Bavaria

In Bavaria, a 2G rule applies across the board, for events, restaurants, but also hairdressers, universities, driving schools, adult education centers and libraries.

Restaurants have to close at 10 p.m.

Clubs, discos and bars are completely closed, and hotels and restaurants have to close completely in hotspots.

In Munich, 2G will also apply to outdoor catering from Wednesday.

Christmas markets are canceled, cultural and sporting events are currently only allowed to take place with a maximum of 25 percent of spectators.

Strict contact restrictions also apply to unvaccinated people: a maximum of five people from two households are allowed to meet.

Only children under twelve, vaccinated and convalescents do not count.

In counties and urban districts with a seven-day incidence of more than 1000, even more drastic restrictions apply: the restaurants, hotels, sports and cultural facilities must close, and all kinds of leisure, sports and cultural events are prohibited.

Berlin

Since the weekend, the 2G regulation has been in effect in the capital not only in restaurants and events, but also in retail, hotels, adult education, driving schools and sports.

The only exceptions are shops with everyday goods such as supermarkets or drug stores.

In addition to the 2G rule, a mask is required in the cultural and leisure sector.

Where wearing a mask is not feasible, such as in clubs or during sports, additional distances or a negative test result should be necessary.

The Berlin Senator for Health Dilek Kalayci is also pushing for nationwide contact restrictions, for both unvaccinated and vaccinated people.

However, that has not yet been decided.

Brandenburg

Brandenburg tightened its corona regulations last week.

Christmas markets have to close, shopping becomes more difficult for the unvaccinated.

The 2G rule (convalescent and vaccinated) will be extended to retail.

Exceptions are supermarkets and other stores with the necessary needs such as pharmacies, drugstores or banks.

The 2G rule already applies in restaurants, theaters, cinemas, concert halls and leisure pools.

The cabinet also decided on contact restrictions.

Those who have not been vaccinated are only allowed to meet with members of their own household and another household or with a total of up to five people.

In addition, there is currently an exit restriction for unvaccinated people from 10 p.m. to 6 a.m. if the seven-day incidence on three consecutive days in a district or an urban district is above 750 and the proportion of intensive care patients nationwide in relation to the intensive care treatment capacities actually available reached the threshold of at least ten percent.

Bremen

Extensive 2G rules apply in the Hanseatic city: Only those who have been vaccinated and recovered are allowed to attend indoor events.

This applies, among other things, to restaurants, pubs, cultural institutions, sports facilities and service providers such as hairdressers.

2G also applies to the Christmas markets.

The mask requirement applies not only in local public transport and in retail, but in all other indoor areas.

Hamburg

Hamburg was the first federal state to introduce the 2G option model back in the summer - but since this Monday it has been mandatory for many areas.

These include body-hugging services (except hairdressers, foot care, medical treatments), restaurants, hotels, cinemas, theaters, clubs, bars, discos, dance events, indoor sports, swimming pools, fitness studios, leisure choirs and orchestras, casinos and amusement arcades.

Private meetings can take place with up to ten people, both indoors and outdoors.

Under 2G rules, more than ten people can meet.

There is also a ban on selling alcohol between 10 p.m. and 6 a.m., and drinking alcohol is prohibited in some public places.

Hamburg's State Councilor for Sports, Christoph Holstein, is also considering capacity restrictions for major sporting events.

Hesse

2G applies across the board in Hesse.

This means that in many areas of public life there is only access for vaccinated and convalescent people, including services that are close to the body.

For clubs there is even 2G Plus, only vaccinated people and Genesis with a current test have access.

All employees and visitors to hospitals, old people's and nursing homes, medical practices, rehabilitation clinics or integration assistance facilities must also be tested regularly - unless they have been vaccinated or have recovered.

Lower Saxony

From Wednesday, 2G Plus will take effect across the country.

This means that only those who have been vaccinated and those who have recovered who have also been tested negative, attend events or take advantage of services, do sports indoors, go to a restaurant or stay in a hotel.

Lower Saxony's Prime Minister Stephan Weil (SPD) is also in favor of a general compulsory corona vaccination and does not want to rule out a lockdown: "This is a point that we now have to discuss intensively."

North Rhine-Westphalia

NRW is also preparing further tightening of the corona measures, the cabinet wants to advise on Tuesday.

In particular, major events and other places with a particular risk of infection are to be dealt with; again, a mask requirement is being considered for schools.

The 2G rule currently applies across the board in the leisure sector.

In areas with a particularly high risk of infection - such as discos, clubs or at carnival celebrations - even those who have been vaccinated and those who have recovered must then also present a current negative test (2G Plus).

Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania

If the corona warning level in the state remains on "red" for the next four days, a maximum of five people from two households are allowed to meet indoors.

A maximum of ten people can meet outside, regardless of the number of households.

However, vaccinated, convalescent and children under the age of 14 are not included.

The 2G rule then applies in retail.

That means: only those who have been vaccinated and recovered have access to many shops.

Exceptions to this rule are grocery stores, weekly grocery markets and other shops selling everyday goods.

The 2G Plus rule and a restriction on the maximum number of spectators or visitors apply to events.

Only 30 percent of the seats can now be allocated.

This also applies to sports and other outdoor events.

The upper limit is 7,250 viewers.

Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania's Prime Minister Manuela Schwesig (SPD) is also in favor of introducing 2G-Plus rules nationwide.

Rhineland-Palatinate

In Rhineland-Palatinate, 2G applies across the board in public areas, for restaurants and hotels as well as in retail and for body-friendly services.

Then there is 3G in the workplace, on public transport and at universities.

The rapid tests in schools will be expanded to two per week and in secondary schools there is a mask requirement on the field.

Masks are also required inside and outside if a minimum distance of 1.5 meters cannot be maintained.

In nursing and old people's homes as well as in facilities for the disabled and health facilities, a test is mandatory for visitors and staff.

Saarland

The corona measures, especially for unvaccinated people, are being tightened significantly: At the end of the week, unvaccinated people are only allowed to meet people from their own household and one other person.

This rule does not apply to those who have been vaccinated, recovered, schoolchildren or children under six years of age.

The 2G Plus regulation will apply in the future to catering, hotels, body-hugging services, swimming pools, thermal baths and saunas, indoor sports and all cultural institutions and events.

The retail trade - with the exception of shops that serve the basic supply - as well as fitness studios and dance schools are only available to vaccinated and convalescent people.

Prime Minister Tobias Hans (CDU) called it "only logical" that the new measures will affect non-vaccinated people to a greater extent than those who have been vaccinated.

He announced strict controls for the coming weeks.

There will also be no shrinking from harsh sanctions where the conditions are violated.

Saxony

The state is hardest hit by the increasing number of infections, and stricter measures have been in place for a week.

Since then, all cultural and leisure facilities have been closed, including Christmas markets.

The only exceptions are libraries.

The 2G rule applies in the hospitality and retail sectors.

Contacts are also reduced: a household can therefore meet with one other person.

Children, vaccinated and convalescent people are not counted.

Saxony-Anhalt

Since the middle of last week, the 2G rule has been in effect indoors, for sports and leisure.

In addition, the Christmas holidays are brought forward, the last day of school is December 17th and not December 21st.

In addition, a daily test requirement will apply in schools from Monday until further notice; the presence requirement will be lifted.

Discos and clubs remain open, but a 2G plus rule applies, and 3G applies to Christmas markets.

Schleswig-Holstein

For leisure events, hotels, indoor sports and gastronomy, 2G applies indoors, for professional events, at the hairdresser and for young people, 3G applies.

A maximum of ten unvaccinated people are allowed to attend private meetings in closed rooms.

Children under the age of 14 are not counted.

Prime Minister Daniel Günther (CDU) also warns against uniform nationwide measures: "Of course, in a district in Bavaria, where the incidence is 1300, you have to react differently than in a district in Schleswig-Holstein, where the incidence is 90."

Thuringia

2G applies to many areas, indoors with a maximum occupancy of 50 percent of the seats.

Clubs, bars and discos are closed, Christmas markets are canceled and there is a curfew in restaurants from 10 p.m.

Swimming pools, leisure pools, saunas and thermal baths must also close.

There are exceptions for school sports.

For amateur sports in clubs and competitions, a test in Thuringia is required in addition to the 2G rules for adults.

3G applies to all employees in schools, day-care centers, organized sports and youth work.

Contact restrictions also apply: a household may only meet with two other people, 2G applies to larger celebrations.

For those who have not been vaccinated, there is also a nightly curfew between 10 p.m. and 5 a.m.
