Police today (Monday) filed a prosecutor's statement against one of the suspects in the murder and disappearance case in Jerusalem, in which Eliezer Berland and seven followers of the Shuvu Banim community under his leadership were arrested.

Police attribute to the suspect, a Jerusalem resident in his 60s whose identity is still banned from publication, involvement in the murder of the boy Nissim Sheetrit in 1986. The police claim that the suspect was an accomplice in the murder and was present at the scene.

In addition, the police want to extend his detention by five days.

In the police today, the chain of events unfolded in court.

According to them, the suspect took over Sheetrit in the apartment where he was, lowered him to the floor, and then two other suspects joined him, including allegedly Baruch Sharvit, another suspect in the affair whose name was allowed to be published today.

The three took him to Dan's tomb in the Wasp Forest, where Sheetrit was beaten to death, among other things by a wand but also by other suspects, whose identities have not yet been revealed.

All this, ostensibly, following an order from Berland to kidnap Sheetrit and beat him.

The police representative at the hearing said "there is evidence here and there" on the question of whether there was an intention in advance to kill Sheetrit or not.

Two other suspects were released under house arrest after the suspicions against them did not strengthen, with one of them claiming that he was abroad at the time of the murder. In addition, the detention of another suspect in the case, who heads a municipal authority, was extended until Thursday.

The Jerusalem Magistrate's Court today allowed the publication of the names of two of the suspects in the case - Sharvit and Zvi Zucker.

According to the suspicion, they both had a role in the murder of Avi Edri and in the disappearance of the boy Nissim Sheetrit.

Zvi Zucker, a resident of Jerusalem in his 70s, is Berland's son-in-law and one of the leaders of the chastity shift.

In the past he was one of the people closest to Berland, and in the early 2000s even helped him escape from his son Nachman.

A few years ago, Zucker left the Shuvu Banim community, following the revelation of the Berland sexual offenses case.

Zucker testified at the time against his father-in-law in the police and came out against the serious acts attributed to him, and as a result was expelled from the community.

He is suspected of being a key accomplice in the two murders of Nissim Sheetrit and Avi Edri.

Sharvit, about 70 years old, was a former driver of a beehive band.

He joined the community in the 1980s.

Over the years he worked as a mezuzah and tefillin writer and in recent years has been less involved in the community, but has remained loyal to Berland to this day.

In January 1986, Nissim Sheetrit, a 17-year-old ultra-Orthodox young man, disappeared after arranging to meet Mike, a man who had met Sheetrit and his friends a week earlier.

According to testimonies and publications at the time, Sheetrit had been violently attacked earlier by the modesty guards operating at the time on the Haredi street.

Attempts over the years to locate Mike, the anonymous man, have stalled.

Avi Edri's body was found in 1990. Edri was the director of a yeshiva in Jerusalem and his body was found lying in the woods.

Both men are suspected of involvement in both cases, while the woman is suspected of trying to seduce the boy at the request of those involved in his disappearance.
