December is the month of Christmas celebrations.

But where otherwise many companies give the landlords in the district a decent business at the end of the year, there is now a yawning emptiness.

A flood of rejections has reached restaurateurs - at least almost all of them.

district

- Pamela Weiss extrapolated it. The Augustiner innkeeper in Wörthsee is likely to lose around 1400 guests in the coming weeks. The reason: refusals, refusals and more refusals. "All planned Christmas parties were canceled without exception," emphasizes the owner. The fear of Corona is simply too great. “Nobody dares to come anymore.” A severe blow for many restaurateurs in the district, fewer guests mean less income, of course. “And the staff remains the same,” clarifies Weiß. Your Augustiner has around 30 permanent employees. “You all have to pay for them first.” Due to the current wave of rejections and the recent decline in visitor numbers due to 2G, this is becoming more and more difficult to accomplish. "To be honest: I'm happy when we got through December."

95 percent of the planned Christmas parties have also been canceled at the “Die Post” inn in Herrsching. “One is still on the calendar, but I think it will also be canceled,” says Back Office Manager Susanne Kopfmiller. In general, fewer celebrations were booked this year. “We notice a clear difference to the pre-Corona period. Most companies are still very cautious. ”Anna Ledic from the Gasthof in der Au in Starnberg suggests the same thing. Since the measures were tightened, around 90 percent of the Christmas parties there have been canceled.

An appointment book that has also been crossed out can be found at Gasthaus Ruf in Seefeld.

One or the other small funeral service is still taking place, otherwise everything has also been canceled at Thomas Ruf.

“People want to avoid contact as much as possible,” he says.

“And I think that's basically correct with the current figures.” What is less good is that in this case his business suffers noticeably.

"Economically it is a catastrophe for us, you have to be that honest," admits the Seefelder.

But he can understand the many rejections on a human level.

"Who are you supposed to be angry with?"

Restaurateurs can understand rejections

Pamela Weiß from Augustiner in Wörthsee does not harbor a personal grudge against anyone who last sent her a cancellation. Therefore, it did not charge any fees for it. “We don't want to offend anyone.” If it were up to her, however, even in these times there is no alternative to rejection. Pamela Weiß advocates voluntary 2G-plus at Christmas parties. That means: Only those who have been vaccinated or recovered and - now the deciding factor will follow - are allowed to come can present a current test certificate. "Then, from my point of view, you would no longer have to be afraid that something would not fit." About two weeks ago, exactly this rule was applied at a celebration in the Augustiner - with success. “It worked wonderfully,” emphasizes Weiß. "This is how it could work."

The situation in Erling is completely different. The Bernhardhof in the monastery village is popular with the locals.

They had to forego their village Christmas with booth magic, they obviously don't want to miss the Christmas get-togethers.

"At least we can't complain at the moment," says Bernd Holzinger.

There were only two or three rejections.

The groups are not that big either, a maximum of 20 people.

Nevertheless, he also worries about the increasing number of infections: "Maybe we should close another two weeks."
