The work of the first scientific day of the College of Health Sciences on the comprehensiveness of physical therapy and its importance in medical specialties opened in the conference hall of the Faculty of Human Medicine at Al-Baath University in Homs, in cooperation with the Syrian Society for Physical Therapy.

The scientific day includes 26 scientific lectures distributed to the seminar rooms in the college, the most important of which is the tension technique for the spine. In urinary incontinence, scoliosis, causes and modern treatment methods, daily skills in children with cerebral palsy.

Dr. Abdul-Basit Al-Khatib, President of Al-Baath University, stressed the importance of this specialized scientific day in the field of physical therapy, as it constitutes support and development for the College of Health Sciences, which contributes to the graduation of qualified young people with high and special skills in the disciplines of physical therapy, nutrition and laboratory sciences.

Al-Khatib added that the profession of physical therapy auxiliary to medical work is a specialty in itself that contributes to curing a large number of diseases. It is also the main communication link between the treating physician and the patient, and has become one of the important disciplines taught in universities and institutes.

In his turn, Dr. Muhammad Hadi Mashhadiya, President of the Syrian Society of Physical Therapists, pointed out the importance of this partnership with the College of Health Sciences, as it is the main place and home for academic graduates in treatment, especially since the human being is the basis in treatment, which requires stopping infringements on that profession by those who have nothing to do with it or academically. For his part, the Dean of the College of Health Sciences at Al-Baath University, Dr. Hazem Dahmane, said that the scientific day in physical therapy that the College of Health Sciences is witnessing aims to educate the medical and student staff in the college and the community, given the importance of this specialty, which constitutes a link with other medical specialties, and tomorrow is an urgent need in the circumstances. The inauguration was attended by Dr. Faiq Shadoud, Secretary of the University Branch of the Arab Socialist Baath Party, Vice Presidents, Deans of Faculties, representatives of some pharmaceutical and device companies, a large number of physiotherapists and students.
