Percha - As part of the weekly team exercise of the Starnberg fire brigade together with emergency services from the Schnell-Einsatz-Gruppe (SEG) drone of the DLRG Pöcking-Starnberg, a person was to be rescued from the Würm.

The aim was, among other things, to optimize cooperation in person searches and operations in the area of the Würm and its flow.

For this purpose, the emergency services took up a joint position on the bridge between the end of the motorway in Percha and the entrance to Starnberg.

With the help of the crane of the supply truck of the Starnberg fire brigade, their mobile loaded aluminum boat was lowered into the outflow of the Starnberg lake.

The turntable ladder also served to safely transport the crew onto the boat.

At the same time, a rubber dinghy of the fire brigade rescue vehicle was put into the water and occupied by hand at another point.

When driving over the Würm, the DLRG drone pilots monitored the scenario from the air.

Especially with such a confusing area of application and also in the dark, the overview with the DLRG drone and its high-resolution thermal imaging camera is of inestimable value.

With the help of the remote-controlled flight object, for example, heat signatures of people can be found quickly.

In addition, the drone team was tasked with exploring the intended route of the two boats from a bird's eye view.

Danger areas can arise from trees or branches that may be lying across and the current in the water.

With a view from above, however, it is possible to recognize them early on and to circumnavigate them in good time.

During the entire exercise, the head of operations was able to

follow

the recordings of the drone

live

through a screen in the vehicle of the DLRG drone unit and also with his own tablet via radio transmission

.

In the Würm itself, the two boat crews rescued people (comrades in survival suits) from the water and brought them safely to land.

The exercise was successfully completed shortly after 9 p.m.

From the point of view of all those involved, this was a very successful and instructive exercise.
