Reality mimics the imagination that mimics reality: Diego Jote, the star of Liverpool and the Portugal national team, was forced to abandon the FIFA 22 tournament on PlayStation to participate in his team's real football match. Of a gamer (sat down on the grass and moved his palms as if holding a joystick and playing FIFA).
It all started when Jota (24), an avid FIFA player, realized that if he did not put his PlayStation controller here and now, he would be late for the Premier League game between Liverpool and Southampton at Anfield Stadium, which was scheduled to start last Sunday at 15: 00.
There's no way Jota just did that celebration

Jota chose to lose the (virtual) game respectfully and informed his opponent at 13:23 (England time), just an hour and a half before the opening whistle, that he had to give up the match.
The opponent, an 18-year-old French gamer known as Lyamoo, admittedly accepted the technical loss and wished Juta success in the (real) game, but was quick to share the sporting incident on Twitter because such a thing does not happen every day.
Diogo Jota spent his morning playing a competitive FIFA 22 international qualifier.
He had to leave the tournament early because he was playing Southampton at 3 pm
He scored after 97 seconds, hit a FIFA celebration, then added another goal in the first half 🎮 pic.twitter.com/ubhCz1Ry3e

It should be noted that Jote's participation in the virtual tournament is not a publicity stunt.
The Portuguese footballer is a world-class FIFA gamer, who is also a member of an e-sports team. Last February, for example, he was ranked first in the FUT Champions rankings (one of FIFA's game modes), having won 30 games without a loss (and this was not the first time ).

"Ever since my dad gave me a PlayStation when I was a kid, I have not stopped playing football on it," the player said in an interview he gave last year.
As long as it's Jürgen Klopp's approval, we're calm.
Were we wrong?
Fixed!
