2126 hectares… Wheat cultivation plan in Lattakia

The Directorate of Agriculture in Lattakia Governorate, within its annual plan for planting the wheat crop for the next agricultural season, determined the areas to be planted with this crop, amounting to 2,126 hectares, while working to invest all possible areas for expansion in this cultivation.

Engineer Muhammad Sheikh Khamis, head of the Crops Department in the Directorate of Agriculture, said in a statement to SANA reporter that sterilized wheat seeds of reliable, disease-free and highly profitable types were distributed to farmers through the Seed Multiplication Foundation, in addition to follow-up by technicians in the extension units and providing advice and instructions on how to Planting and taking care of the crop permanently until reaching marketing.

Khamis pointed out that the areas planted with the wheat crop during the past year amounted to 3,559 hectares, an increase from the planned plan of 2,900 hectares, or an implementation rate of 123 percent, as production reached about 896 tons, which were marketed through the General Organization for Grains.
