A woman running onto a runway at Los Angeles International Airport was detained by police Monday night.
The Los Angeles airport police detailed in a statement that the woman, who had a plane ticket,
was in terminal 1 of the airport when she opened a door
, which activated an alarm, and went to an access ramp to the runway. .
"The airline employees who witnessed the woman's departure from the terminal followed security protocols and maintained eye contact until the airport police arrived shortly after and detained her," the statement said.
The woman, who has not been identified, told police she was "trying to stop the plane," according to the statement
.
The plane was parked at the gate.

Videos recorded by another passenger show the woman, who was carrying a black backpack and other objects on her arm, apparently struggling with a man who was trying to get her off the runway.
She can be seen trying to get away from him while enthusiastically greeting various airline employees.
In another video, the woman is seen standing next to a police officer as he goes through her backpack and belongings.
The woman was taken to a hospital with minor injuries and for
a mental health evaluation
, police said.
Police said the incident did not cause any flight delays.
