Do you really know what is behind the name of Ikea products?

2021-11-30T17:36:30.341Z

The Swedish tourist office is launching an original campaign to promote 21 little-known destinations. What do they have in common? They gave their names to objects from the Swedish furniture giant.

Björksta, Höljes, Ingatorp, Kallax ... Walking the aisles of an Ikea store, it's impossible to miss these names (often unpronounceable, let's face it) attributed to cabinets, sofas or door handles.

This is to forget that these names are (also) those of places that really exist in Sweden, the country where the famous furniture brand was born in 1943.

Through the “Discover the Originals” campaign, launched this Tuesday, November 30, 2021, the Swedish tourist office (Visit Sweden) wishes to introduce 21 unsuspected destinations which gave their name to Ikea products.

Mountains in Lapland, picturesque village nestled on the island of Gotland, lake surrounded by forests near the capital Stockholm ... These places are of interest to travelers who wish to discover remote and unknown corners of the Scandinavian kingdom while indulging activities like rafting, hiking or swimming in ice water.
