Epstein's Madame's sentence opens: "Hunt and nurture girls for him"
The prosecution in New York claims that the British Galein Maxwell was a major part of the trade in girls who were sexually exploited by the Jewish billionaire and others.
The defense claims she is a scapegoat who is on trial only because Epstein committed suicide.
"Gillane controlled the girls," said one of the victims

Galein Maxwell "hunted and nurtured" young girls for her associate Jeffrey Epstein - prosecutors claimed at the opening of her trial yesterday (Monday) in New York, where she is on trial for sex trafficking.
Maxwell, who was arrested last year, denies the charges against her, and her lawyers claim she serves as a scapegoat for Epstein's crimes, which ended his life in prison in 2019.
However, prosecutors claim the two were "accomplices to the crime" and if convicted of British Maxwell, who also has U.S. and French citizenship, she faces a maximum sentence of 80 years in prison.
District Attorney Lara Pomerantz said in the opening statement that Maxwell was looking for vulnerable girls, the youngest of whom was 14, seducing them "and submitting them to sexual exploitation" at the Jewish billionaire's luxury estates, with whom she had an intimate relationship.
In the lawsuit, Maxwell was described as an "essential" part of Epstein's crimes, as a "hand of his kind."

Maxwell has denied all eight charges against her for trafficking in sex and other crimes, allegedly committed from 1994 to 2004. She was defined as the "lady of the house" who helped "normalize" the sexual exploitation of those girls.
The defense claims she is on trial only because Epstein committed suicide in his New York cell before his trial began.
"The charges against Galein Maxwell are about things Jeffrey Epstein did, but she's not Jeffrey Epstein," her lawyer, Bobby Sternheim, claimed.
Her lawyers will argue that the complainants against her may have false memories due to the time that has elapsed due to "external information, ongoing media reports and other influences".
Sarah Ransom, one of Epstein's victims, said Maxwell worked closely with him.
"Gillane controlled the girls. She was like Madame. She was the kind of executor of the girls' trade operation."
