Maccabi Tel Aviv today (Tuesday) paid its traditional visit to the oncology wards at Schneider Medical Center for Children in Petah Tikva. The players, coaches and representatives of the club's management received an explanation of the activities of the medical staff at the place, talked about the commitment to the community and passed between the families whose loved ones are hospitalized and distributed gifts for Hanukkah.

Last Sunday, two days before the visit to the hospital, members of the ONE TEAM group from the Ayanot Youth Village gathered to pack the packages together with representatives of the sponsors. The toys, games and sweets were donated by Playtika, Boaz and Omar Dekel from PMI, Walla! Shops, Klil, weSure, Lego man Major Maor Cohen and DHL, who also took care of transporting all the packages to the medical center.

Schneider CEO Dr. Efrat Baron-Harlev explained to the players and coaches the activities and importance of creating a comfortable and inviting environment for children as part of the treatment.

She went on to note that Playtika, Maccabi's main sponsor, has set out to establish a new and fun play area for the hospitalized children and their families at the medical center.

"It is a great experience for us to get a perspective on our daily lives and how blessed we are and should be grateful that we enjoy things that others do not have, especially not the young children here," said James Nanley, who first came with Maccabi to visit sick children.

"It gives a good feeling to come, to see the smile on the faces of the children, parents, doctors and nursing staff who help the children fight for the next day of life," the American forward added.

"These are things that a lot of people take for granted and should not be. I am grateful to be a part of this experience."

"I think it's a very important thing we do, something more important than basketball," Oz Blazer clarified during the visit.

"Bringing back children who are going through a difficult period here. If there is an opportunity to be happy and give them strength to fight more, it is blessed. Even in the period of the Corona, it is not easy and we have not given it up."
