The Centre for Health Protection of the Department of Health announced today (30th) that 6 new cases of new pneumonia were confirmed in Hong Kong, all of which were imported cases, aged from 1 to 48 years old, and all arrived in Hong Kong from high-risk Group A designated areas, including Pakistan, India, the United Kingdom and from the Philippines.

The newly diagnosed patients are temporarily, and 4 of them carry the L452R variant virus strain. One case has insufficient virus volume for testing of the variant virus strain, and the related test results of the other case are yet to be determined.

The patient also included a Philippine domestic helper who came to Hong Kong.


In addition, there are currently fewer than 5 confirmed cases in Hong Kong today.


Six new cases of new pneumonia were confirmed in Hong Kong, all of which were imported cases, of which four were infected with the variant virus.

The Centre for Health Protection stated that the six new cases were all imported cases, involving two men and four women, aged between 1 and 48, all arriving in Hong Kong from designated areas (high risk) in Group A.

Case numbers 12437, 12438 and 12439 are close contacts of the earlier imported cases (cases 12411, 12412 and 12413). They arrived in Hong Kong on flight EK384 from Pakistan via the United Arab Emirates on the 21st of this month.

Among them, a 47-year-old female patient with case number 12437 had completed the local vaccination with Kexing vaccine. All three were diagnosed at the Penny's Bay Quarantine Center.

Among the remaining cases, a female patient with case number 12440, arrived in Hong Kong from India via flight AI1310 on the 28th of this month, and tested positive at the temporary sample collection center of Hong Kong International Airport.

The other two, including case numbers 12441 and 12442, arrived in Hong Kong from the United Kingdom via flight VS206 on the 24th of this month, and the samples were positive on the 5th day; the latter was a Filipino maid, who arrived from the Philippines via flight CX906 on the 10th of this month. In Hong Kong, the test result on the 19th day of the quarantine period was positive, confirming the diagnosis.

The CHP stated that a total of 43 cases were reported in the past 14 days, all of which were imported cases.

There have been 12,437 cases (including 12,436 confirmed and one suspected case) in Hong Kong so far.
