Hospital ambulance attendants believe they have been the "

" of Ségur de la santé.

They claim not to have been heard on their main demand, which they have been hammering for years: their recognition as "

caregivers

", and no longer as "

"

personnel

.

The unions (CGT, FO and SUD health-social) notably ask for the deletion of the term “

drivers

” from their name.

They also demand a revaluation of their salaries, with a reclassification in category B, in the same way as the nursing assistants.

Two requests to which Olivier Véran has shown himself sensitive in recent months, affirms FO, without any materialization having seen the light of day.

Efforts are also requested on the training of ambulance attendants and access to professional promotion.

To put a spotlight on this social movement, a Toulouse ambulance driver of 56 years, Thierry Cubury, took the road last week to go up to Paris by bike, in order to "

alert public opinion to the failings of the government towards hospital ambulance attendants

”.

He is due to arrive in the capital this Tuesday to participate in the rally in front of the Ministry of Health.

This day of strike should have little impact on patients, due to the requisitions of ambulances that may be ordered by the prefectures to continue to provide urgent medical transport.

According to the French Association of Smur ambulance workers and hospitaliers (Afash), there are currently some 3,500 public ambulance workers in France.
