Russian President Vladimir Putin affirmed today that his country has close traditional relations in the Middle East, based on his country's respect for its partners and non-interference in their internal affairs.

"The reason for the success of Russian relations in the Middle East is the respect for partners, that is, respect for their traditions, religion and history, and absolute abstinence from interfering in their internal affairs, but rather searching for meeting points with them," Putin said during the investment forum in Moscow entitled (Russia is Calling).

The Russian president pointed out that the so-called “Arab Spring” brought nothing but tragedies to the region, wondering, “Where is this spring?” He added: “Everything that happened was a tragedy and nothing but an exploitation by some of the objective difficulties that some countries faced to destabilize the situation in them and to restore Building life in these countries according to their standards.”

The Russian president pointed out that a similar attempt had taken place in Afghanistan, citing the intervention of the United States and its allies in this country twenty years ago.

On the other hand, Putin revealed Russia's intention to develop hypersonic weapons with a maximum capacity of "Mach 9", explaining that Moscow has successfully tested these weapons.

On the expansion of NATO's military infrastructure in Ukraine, Putin stressed that this is a red line for Russia, and said: "If missile systems appear in Ukraine that can reach Moscow in a few minutes, Russia will have to respond with similar threats."

With regard to the possibility of his candidacy for a new presidency for the year 2024, Putin explained that the Russian constitution grants him the right to run for a new presidential term, but he has not yet decided whether he will run for himself or not, considering that the existence of this right guarantees the stability of the Russian internal political situation.

On the topic of COVID-19, Putin stressed that it is possible to fight the virus effectively “only” by coordinating the actions of the entire world community, through mutual recognition of vaccines and vaccination certificates, providing access to vaccines for all regions of the planet, and joint work on new drugs against the coronavirus.
