Retired police couple charged with manslaughter in case of death of Van driver in parking and fighting goods outside Zhaokang station, brought to court on Wednesday

On Sunday (28th) night outside the public transport interchange at Siu Hong Station in Tuen Mun, a couple quarreled with the 55-year-old Pingzhi van driver surnamed Chen due to berth problems. Chen fell into a coma and died in hospital.

The police subsequently arrested the 57-year-old man and 58-year-old woman involved in the case. They were temporarily charged today (30th) with a total of one manslaughter. The case will appear in Tuen Mun Magistrates' Courts tomorrow (December 1) morning.


The incident occurred at nearly 7pm on Sunday evening. The 57-year-old male driver of a private car drove with his 58-year-old wife to the taxi stand near the public transport interchange at Siu Hong Station in Tuen Mun. Suspected of parking problems, he and 55-year-old Chen Pingzhi The van driver was fighting.

Chen later fell into a coma and fell to the ground. People at the scene called the police for help. An ambulanceman arrived and rushed the van driver to Tuen Mun Hospital for emergency treatment. Unfortunately, he died in the end.

It is understood that the 57-year-old man surnamed Kwong was a retired police officer, and his 58-year-old wife Li, who was involved in the case, reported that he was the owner of the laundry room at the police station.
